Cycling is one of the best ways to enrich the understanding about a place or a region. Our rides focusing on the heritage sites and local history gives oneself an opportunity to explore and connect with the glorious past , the unison of body and mind over the machine along with the ride route creates an enchanting experience bereft of words for description. From being a one day ride in the initial years to the present format of three days tour the Republic Day Heritage Ride has grown to become one of the sought after events in the cycling calendar.
Cycling Yogis is an initiative comprising of people from various walks of life with a common passion for cycling and respect towards heritage. Founded in the year 2012, we strive to connect knowledge about our history and heritage together with cycling through our heritage rides; thereby encouraging a sustainable medium of transport. Some of our supporters include Archeological Survey of India and Tamilnadu Tourism.
Madras Week Celebration is one of the flagship events in our Annual Calendar. Since August 2012 we have been curating events to commemorate the founding of the city, it includes Heritage Rides, Publication of books and hosting Vintage Bicycles Exhibition. We are also officially listed as supporters of Madras Week Celebration.
Books covering Cycling Trails in and around the city which includes treasures on the roadside that we often tend to ignore, facts about the city's rich heritage and nooks of the city to explore have today become a necessity. These books attempt to document and culturally map the city and its neighbourhood thereby making Chennai and its surrounding the first region in India to have such cycling trails, these books shall be of immense value to the cycling community, heritage enthusiasts, city planners and tourists alike.
